Centred on an ancient stone bastide, the house is perched on a terraced hillside, on the upper slopes of a peaceful, unspoilt valley with a view of the Estorel hills, in four acres of olive grove and Provencal garden, filled with oleanders, thyme, lavender, arbutus and wild orchids.

The house is well appointed and comfortably furnished, with a sympathetic joining together of the old and the new. The centre of the house is the old stone walled bastide, which provides a cool room in summer and a cosy dining room in the winter, with a large log fireplace. The split level, well furnished "salon", with masses of books, satellite TV (Sky) and music centre, opens on to the large covered terrace with its long wooden table for leisurely Provencal meals and sitting out on the balmy nights.

 

We ski regularly from the house in winter; the nearest ski resort is an hour's drive away and the Olympic standard runs of the

Le Foux, Col d'Allos & Isola are only two hours off.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a double bed (with views up the valley!) and french-windows that open on to a roof terrace. The top floor of the old bastide is a very large beamed bedroom with twin beds, a third single bed and room for additional folding beds (we are in the process of putting in a cabinet de toilet!) Downstairs we have a further bedroom with adult sized bunk beds & a small sauna opening from it. There is a fully fitted bathroom, shower room and separate lavatory. The custom built kitchen has a double oven cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washing up machine, lots of large pots, pans and casseroles and a Kenwood Chef. There is a breakfast table and plenty of crockery and cutlery to satisfy the most demanding of clients! The utility room (or remise), has an automatic washing machine, second fridge (drinks!) and general storage.

Four legged holders of "Pets Passports" are welcome. Bowls, beds and leads can be borrowed. The local woods and terraces present exciting walks with plenty to occupy the nose. The neighbourhood cat, Mimi or "Poossie", although an example of the European Wild Cat understands English having belonged to an English artist now moved, and arrives when she hears English spoken.
