A mile outside the hilltop village of Montauroux in the pays de Fayence, the house is within 20 miles of the Mediterranean coast and the resorts of St. Raphael, Frejus and Cannes. The Montauroux commune encompasses the Lac St. Cassien, famous for its fishing, with also swimming, sailing and windsurfing. The area has many attractions, with good local tennis courts, several golf courses, superb walking and climbing and lots of Provencal atmosphere, with local festivals and events.

The region is packed with tempting restaurants, ranging from the three star Michelin to the "3 courses for 75 francs" sort. The local Côte de Provence vineyard, Château Grande Bastide, sells excellent wine from the barrel at 8 francs a litre. Montauroux website is at http://www.montauroux.com
