The Artists

Both Simon and Jessica have been coming to the South of France for many years and are very familiar with the area and all the magical places that will inspire the artistically minded. Their approach is friendly and supportive, providing a relaxed, helpful, challenging atmosphere in which students can confidently explore their own thing.

Painting Holidays

We will be on hand to help, guide, inspire or respect your privacy depending on your individual, daily requirements. Discussion and tuition is on going, tutorials and one to one help are available when needed. There may also be evening critiques, where group members can show work together for general discussion. On this holiday we will be teaching painting and drawing, with charcoal, oil and acrylic. We will provide opportunities for you to look at still life, architecture and landscape and to work at your own pace. Some basic materials are included but please bring your own if you wish.

A selection of Art & Craft Courses and Workshops available

Outdoor Ceramics
Pottery and ceramics using hand dug local clay and improvised kilns. Create your own pottery and fire it a few days later in a kiln made of paper! Also see the Raku glazes transform as pots are instantly fired, covered in sawdust and plunged into water. The effects are always stunning.

Discovering Charcoal
Capture the drama of the landscape, in large-scale charcoal drawing. This is a chance to experiment, catch the moment and recreate an atmosphere,
Using the fluid, intuitive paint-like qualities of charcoal. Students and complete beginners are welcome.

Book binding
Learn how to make your own books. We will be making a simple stitch bound hard backed book (ideal for a hand made sketch book) also hard backed albums and concertina books. Come and be creative.

Basket Weaving
Learn how to weave simple woodland baskets and trays using a selection of Collected and traditional materials.

Painting - Still Life
Choose your own subjects from our fascinating repertoire of objects. Create your own still life and spend a day capturing your theme using oil or acrylic paints. Beginners are welcome.

Green Furniture
Make your own furniture or garden feature using reclaimed wood, drift-wood, green wood and a bunch of nails. No great woodworking skills are required but if you want to bring your own special bits of wood feel free.

Painting – Landscape
Take your palette out into the fields! Loaded with paints and canvass we will be finding compositions in the landscape and translating our inspiration through oil or acrylic to make wonderful paintings.

Some of the workshops are suitable for children over 12 years, some for families and some are for adults only. Please check beforehand.
